About the artist
In 1969, he used a computer for the first time to create a work of art, thereby becoming one of the pioneers of digital (visual) art in the Netherlands. Since then, the computer has been an essential part of his research into the visual representation of structures.
His work must be created in a logical manner, being unambiguous and verifiable in order to avoid inconsistencies. With the aid of the computer, Struycken is able to give his artworks an underlying structure. From that structure emerges a multitude of forms, colours and processes which, in all their diversity, nevertheless share that same underlying structure.
