About the artist
From 2001 to 2007, he maintained a “drawing blog” where he posted his work daily. Van Eeden himself views the work as an ongoing series, featuring various (parallel) narratives, such as the drawings about the botanist K.M. Wiegand (who actually existed), who becomes both a fictional artist and a socialite, architect, writer, criminal, etc. Since 2012, he has been creating drawings on larger formats.
Van Eeden is inspired by the philosophers Arthur Schopenhauer and Emil Cioran. His work has been featured in numerous (international) exhibitions, including the 2006 Berlin Biennale. He served as a jury member for the Prix de Rome in 2004, the Volkskrant Visual Arts Prize in 2006[3], and he won the Ouborg Prize in 2013.
